Daily tasks include cleaning the filters of a crude oil filtration system that leaked all along the northeastern coast and part of the southeastern coast of Brazil in the second half of 2019. Made with materials found in the region, such as coconut fibers and Pet bottles, the filter system contains oil-absorbing floats and filters water entering the mouth of the river during high tide. This avoids the contamination of the mangrove swamp, an ecosystem located in humid regions between the sea and the rivers, present throughout the Brazilian coast. Locations:Bahia-Brazil-South AmericaDate:15 Nov, 2019Credit:© Nilmar Lage / GreenpeaceMaximum size:5472px X 3648pxKeywords:Beaches-Cleaning-Day-Gloves-KWCI (GPI)-Local population-Marine pollution-Men-Oceans (campaign title)-Oil (fossil fuel)-Oil (Industry)-Oil spills-One person-Outdoors-Protective clothingShoot:Oil in the Northeast of Brazil - Piracanga Community (Bahia)Ecovillage residents in Piracanga, Maraú peninsula beach, in southern Bahia, perform cleaning efforts.
