Open-pit Coal Mining in Inner Mongolia

A waste dump and open-pit coal mine close to the foot of Zhuozi Mountain. The mine is also close to the West Ordos National Nature Reserve.

A Genghis Khan statue is under construction at the summit of Gangdeer Mountain (seen in the background) close to Wuhai city. So far the building work has taken four years and has yet to be finished.
