Opening Ceremony of Beluga in Gorleben

Inauguration ceremony of the Beluga I in Gorleben. MV Beluga I, the first river boat of Greenpeace Germany becomes a memorial near the intermediate nuclear waste storage in Gorleben. For the last journey of the ship, it has been fragmented and transported by trucks in to the Wendland. The ship symbolizes the resitance against the nuclear waste storage policy of the German government.

Einweihung der Beluga I als Mahnmal in Gorleben 
Mit einer feierlichen Zeremonie weiht Greenpeace das Aktionsschiff „Beluga“ in Gorleben als Mahnmal ein. Das Schiff soll ueber dem Salzstock daran erinnern, dass Gorleben kein sicheres Endlager für hochradioaktiven Atommuell sein kann. Aktivisten hatten das rund 32 Tonnen schwere und 24 Meter lange Schiff zuvor in elf Einzelteilen nach Gorleben transportiert und rund 100 Meter vor den Toren des Erkundungsbergwerkes wieder aufgebaut.
