Palm Kernel Export Rally in NZ
A policeman arrives to move on a Greenpeace "orangutan" outside the Port of Tauranga after activists boarded East Ambition to block a shipment of palm kernel animal feed from Indonesia as the ship entered Tauranga Port with palm kernel destined for Fonterra dairy farms, 16 September 2009. They are calling on John Key to halt imports of the product due to its impact on climate change and address intensive dairy farming in New Zealand. Several activists boarded the East Ambition nearTauranga port and locked themselves to the vessel and its cargo cranes to prevent the ship unloading.

Palm Kernel Export Rally in NZ
Public rally held in Tauranga in support of the Greenpeace action the previous day highlighting the destruction of rainforest due to palm kernel exportation. Palm kernel is an important economic product of the destructive palm oil
industry. In New Zealand it is used as a supplementary feed for dairy
cows. Greenpeace is calling for a stop to all palm kernel
expeller shipments into New Zealand as its production is helping to drive destruction of rainforests.
