Action against Pirate Fishing Mumrinskiy in Eemshaven
Greenpeace divers chained the propeller of the notorious Russian flagged fish freezer vessel Mumrinskiy to the quayside in the Dutch port of Eemshaven and launched a floating banner calling for the scrapping of the vessel. Greenpeace handed over the keys of the lock chaining the Mumrinskiy to the dockside to the Dutch Minister of Fisheries, and is calling on the Dutch government and the international community to demand the immediate scrapping of the Mumrinskiy.
The Mumrinskiy has a long history of involvement in illegal operations, including transshipment of Barents cod from illegal boats, ignoring commands from Norwegian authorities and misreporting its cargo to hide illegally caught fish.
