Plastic rubbish on the beach in the bays of Freetown, Sierra Leone. Plastic bottles and water bags, fishing ropes, cups, general household as well as hospital rubbish is swept out to sea with the local rivers, then up onto the beach with the waves. Some popular beaches have been cleaned up, but most of them remain covered in rubbish. 

Plastikmuell am Strand in den Buchten in und um Freetown in Sierra Leone. Plastikflaschen, kleine Wassertuetchen, Becher, Fischingnetze, Haushalts- und Krankenhausmuell gelangen ueber den Fluss in das Meer und werden mit den Wellen wieder an Land gespuelt. Einige beliebte Strandabschnitte werden gereinigt, andere gar nicht.
