The press conference is co-organized and co-hosted by the Dangjin Korean Federation for Environmental Movement (KFEM). The locals in Dangjin are currently fighting hard against the government’s plan for the two additional Coal-Fired power plants. The press conference shows strong solidarity between the locals, Dangjin KFEM and Greenpeace. Currently, in Korea, there are a total of 53 coal-fired power plants (CFPPs) in operation nationwide. In addition to them, 11 new CFPPs are under construction, and the government plans to build 9 more CFPPs by the mid-2020.
