The beeches in this area of the Spessart forest are up to 180 years old. Only in June the Bavarian State Forestry (BaySF, Bayerische Staatsforsten) put a ban on logging in these forests, yet it continues. Greenpeace is calling on the responsible Bavarian Prime Minister Seehofer to immediately stop the logging of old beeches and to put 10% of the public forests under protection. Die Buchen in diesem Waldgebiet sind bis zu 180 Jahre alt.
