In front of the venue, activists from Germany placed a tree trunk with the words “Stop Killing Forests”.In 2010, the CGF and its members promised to end deforestation by 2020 through “responsible sourcing” of commodities such as cattle and soya, key drivers of forest destruction in Brazil. So far, measures taken by the companies indicate that they will fail to keep this promise.A key concern is the serious increase in violence against Brazilian Indigenous Peoples and the destruction of their lands since President Bolsonaro took office in January. Locations:Berlin-Europe-GermanyDate:24 Oct, 2019Credit:© Kevin McElvaney / GreenpeaceMaximum size:7952px X 5304pxKeywords:Actions and protests-Activists-Banners-Burning-Commercial businesses-Day-Direct communications-Fires-Forests (campaign title)-KWCI (GPI)-Morning-Non-violent direct actions-Outdoors-Photo opportunities (action tactic)-Small group of people-Streets-TreesShoot:Protest against Forest Destruction at Consumer Goods Forum (CGF) Global Summit in BerlinIndigenous leaders from Brazil and Greenpeace Germany activists are peacefully demonstrating at the Consumer Goods Forum (CGF) Sustainability Committee Meeting in Berlin against forest destruction. In 2010, the CGF and its members promised to end deforestation by 2020 through “responsible sourcing” of commodities such as cattle and soya, key drivers of forest destruction in Brazil.
