Protest at Funen Piggery in Denmark
Greenpeace places a 66-meter banner with the text "Stop the pig factories" on the road at the construction of a new giant piggery. Local citizens and neighbours to the farm join the protest with signs.
Denmark has a new climate law with a historically strong greenhouse gas reduction target. Yet, to meet this target Danish agriculture must move away from industrial pig factories that are facilitating an increase rather than a reduction of animals.
The barn is still under construction and is said by Landbrugsavisen to be Denmark's soon largest piggery with a capacity of 10,500 pigs, which will live on 9,500 m2.
