Greenpeace activists protest at the hydro conference “19th International Seminar on Hydropower Plants” in Laxenburg near Vienna, Austria. The activists are holding up two pictures: One of them shows a pristine rainforest, the other one a destroyed rainforest. A banner reads: “Stop destroying: no dams in the Amazon!” Greenpeace is calling on companies like Voith Hydro (partly owned by Siemens), GE and Andritz AG, who are present at the conference, to not participate in new hydro dams in the Amazon.
