Greenpeace Aktivisten protestieren mit einem "Mahnmal der armen Sau" vor dem Bundeslandwirtschaftsminister Christian Schmidt in Berlin. Sie nennen den Minister den "Bundesminister fuer Tierleid" und fordern, dass er sich fuer eine wirksame politische Strategie fuer bessere Tierhaltung in der Landwirtschaft einsetzt.
59 Millionen Schweine werden jährlich in Deutschland geschlachtet, zwoelf Millionen mehr als hier gegessen werden. Um die Kosten niedrig zu halten, fristen ueber 90 Prozent der Tiere ihr Leben in engen Staellen ohne Auslauf oder Einstreu. Auf dem Banner steht: "Christian Schmidt: Bundesminister für Tierleid".
