He moved from Kadena to Takae in 2003 looking to live a sustainable life. He opened his own café to provide a place of spiritual cure for city-dwellers. Mr. Ashimine is a furniture craft worker and upholsterer, a specialist in plaster coating techniques. In 2014 two helipads were built just 400 meters from his place. Thunderous Osprey aircraft hovered overhead, and when night training started, his children could not go to school for lack of sleep. He was forced to evacuate them to a neighboring village.Locations:Asia-Japan-OkinawaDate:15 Sep, 2016Credit:© Takashi Morizumi / GreenpeaceMaximum size:4069px X 2767pxKeywords:Activists-Day-KWCI (GPI)-Local population-Men-Oceans (campaign title)-One person-Outdoors-Portraits-Public engagementShoot:Stories of Protesters of OkinawaPortraits of three people in Okinawa who are taking action against the construction of U.S. Marine Corps helipads in the Yambaru forest (Northern Training Area).Related Collections:US Military Helipad Protests and Activists in Okinawa
