Radiation Survey in Fukushima
Iitate, Fukushima - The Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant accident marks the 10-year anniversary on March 11, 2021. Greenpeace Japan has been conducting continuous radiation surveys in Fukushima Prefecture right after the accident, and in November 2020, we conducted our 32nd survey in Iitate and Namie. A decade of Greenpeace Japan radiation survey consistently found that most of the Special Decontamination Area (SDA), where the government is responsible for decontamination, remains contaminated with radioactive caesium.
Mr. Anzai’s house is located in the south-east of Iitate, 35 km from the nuclear power plant. Mr. Anzai was evacuated from his home on 24 June 2011, and his house and the surrounding area were subjected to extensive decontamination by the authorities during the 2014 and 2015.
