The state owned company run an engine pump from the artificial lake as a water source in Kerta Buana village in Kutai Kartanegara, East Kalimantan. Mining operations in the province has brought about landscape destruction and created dozens of artificial lakes that have become an unhealthy source of drinking water for nearby villages.
