São Gabriel da Cachoeira Faces Covid-19 in Brazil
São Gabriel da Cachoeira, in the Amazonas state, known as the most Indigenous city in Brazil, had 2,592 confirmed Covid-19 cases until June 24th, 2020. The Coping with Covid-19 Committee, constituted by Indigenous leaderships, NGOs, government workers, the military and the Catholic Church, is a joint effort to fight the coronavirus Covid-19 spreading amongst Indigenous Peoples in Alto Rio Negro. With the Wings of Emergency project, Greenpeace Brazil is transporting health professionals and health and hygiene supplies to support the Committee's actions in the city.

Conhecida como a cidade mais indígena do Brasil, São Gabriel da Cachoeira (AM) teve, até o dia 24 de junho de 2020, o registro de 2.592 casos confirmados de Covid-19. Um Comitê de Enfrentamento à Covid-19, composto por lideranças indígenas, organizações não governamentais, funcionários públicos, militares e membros da Igreja Católica realiza um esforço interinstitucional para combater o avanço da Covid-19 entre os povos indígenas do Alto Rio Negro. O projeto Asas da Emergência, do Greenpeace, está transportando profissionais e equipamentos de saúde para apoiar as ações do Comitê na cidade.
