Save the Climate, Stop Coal - Days of Action in Garzweiler
2500 people form a human chain between Keyenberg and Lützerath.
Together with a broad alliance of environmental and civil society organisations, Greenpeace calls for a day of action in the Rhenish mining area. Environmental activists from Greenpeace BUND, Campact, Alle Doerfer bleiben, Klimaallianz, Naturfreunde and Greenpeace
form a 4 km-long human chain between Keyenberg and Luetzerath near the Garzweiler opencast mine. The activists demand: "Save the climate, Stop coal". The demonstrators also claim the preservation of the villages threatened by opencast mining. Before the federal election the call goes to those politically responsible: " The coal must stay in the ground. We mark the 1.5 degree limit"
