Sharks Join Fun Run in Wellington

Two Greenpeace volunteers, dressed as sharks, join the Wellington Santa Run to raise funds for the KidsCan charity. The shark characters are promoting a proposal to ban shark finning in New Zealand waters. They say an immediate ban by the government would make the perfect Christmas present for 2013.

Sharks Join Fun Run in Wellington

Greenpeace volunteers, dressed as sharks, join the Wellington Santa Run to raise funds for the KidsCan charity. The shark characters are promoting a proposal to ban shark finning in New Zealand waters. They say an immediate ban by the government would make the perfect Christmas present for 2013. Close to 100 states and countries have already banned the practice of killing sharks just for their fins. The New Zealand Government has drafted a proposal to do the same and is calling for public feedback. Greenpeace is urging the government to follow the best international standards for its shark finning legislation and to implement it immediately.
