Tar Sands & Boreal Forest in Alberta (1 of 3)
Canada's tar sands are an oil reserve the size of England. Extracting the crude oil called bitumen from underneath the Boreal Forest of northern Alberta requires a massive industrialised effort with far-reaching impacts on the land, air, water, and climate. Greenpeace is calling on oil companies and the government to stop the tar sands, for the sake of people and the planet.
