Straw is combined to solar panels to heat the cooperators. One third of the straw production of the island is thus used, heating 500 households. The area is also used as land for cattle grazing.Locations:Denmark-Europe-Northern Europe-ScandinaviaDate:27 May, 2015Credit:© Denis Sinyakov / GreenpeaceMaximum size:5760px X 3840pxKeywords:Climate (campaign title)-Day-Energy-Energy [R]evolution (campaign title)-Energy efficiency-Farms-Fields-Houses-KWCI (GPI)-Outdoors-Renewable energy-Sheep-Solar energy-Solar panels-Solar power stationsShoot:Renewable Energy Documentation in DenmarkGreenpeace conducted a documentation on renewable energy in the Danish islands of Samsoe and Aeroe. 100% of the electricity in the Samsoe island is provided by wind turbines, 70% of the heat supply comes from four sustainable district heating plants. Samsoe has an international lead as an energy-efficient research island, from which the Samsoe Energy Academy shares knowledge and experiences with the world. Aeroe renewable energy island, south of Denmark, houses the largest solar heating power station in the world with more than 33000 m2 covered in solar panels.
