On unceded Algonquin territory in Ottawa, Canada, Clyde River Inuit and the Chippewas of the Thames First Nation head to the Supreme Court of Canada to uphold the legal right of Indigenous Peoples to be consulted and give (or withhold) consent to energy projects that will impact their communities -- including seismic blasting in the Arctic and oil pipelines. A win at the court would be a watershed moment for the future of Indigenous rights and environmental justice.
