Testimony: Dangjin Coal-Fired Power Plants - Web Video (Korean Subs)

Greenpeace interviewed Myoung Gak KIM and Gun Joo LIM, two Dangjin residents. Their testimonies clearly indicate the health risks which Dangjin Coal-Fired Power Plants (CFPP) cause. Many local residents are long-suffering from various illnesses caused by air pollutants emitted by the coal plants. The cancer mortality rates are also very high.

Korea East-West Power Company (EWP) owns Dangjin Coal-Fired Power Complex located at Gyoro-ri, Seokmun-myeon, Dangjin-si. Currently eight 4000MW units are being operated and a 2,040MW expansion is under construction. This expansion will make the Dangjin CFPP the second largest coal plants in the world. EWP claims that the Dangjin Power Complex is one of the most eco-friendly plants built in Korea. However, the people’s testimonies unambiguously state otherwise.
