"The Green Barrier" is the story of Forrest, the last tree standing from the forest belts that once protected the southern part of Romania. The animation was developed by Greenpeace Romania together with local studio Playtime Post and narrated by the acclaimed Romanian actor Marcel Iureș.
Over the next 30 years, more than 40% of Romania's territory will become an arid steppe. Climate scientists indicate that, in a moderate scenario, over 10 million Romanians will be affected by rising temperatures, the loss of water reserves and desertification.
Investing in protective measures against the climate crisis should be a priority for all governments. Forests are the natural solution to guard us against climate change hazards.
