Tiffany Plumstead Returns Home AFter Hurricane Katrina
Tiffany Plumstead searches for salvageable possessions in her home 30 days after Hurricane Katrina. The house is a total loss after it was soaked by crude oil spilled from the Murphy Oil refinery, just a few blocks away. Ms. Plumstead and her husband, natives of Meraux will make a new life for themselves and their children in another state.
Devastation is still evident in villages and towns which are still flooded with contaminated water from the oil industries. Local residents and officials blame a ruptured Shell pipeline for spreading oil through marshes and communities down river from New Orleans.
