Teams of Belgium, West Germany, Austria, UK, Denmark, Netherlands, France and Czechoslovakia simultaneously climbed smokestacks in each country. On each stack a banner with a single letter on it so that a composite photograph of all of the smokestacks would show the banners saying "STOP".
