The chemicals, mostly obsolete pesticides, were stored in old dilapidated buildings, former warehouse of a bankrupted collective farm. The samples of chemicals from the farm, which were analyzed in independent laboratories, proved to contain several dangerous chemicals, some of them produced in the former German democratic republic, including chlorinated dioxins and furans, for example tetrachlorodibenzofurane.
