The report presents areas contaminated often with carcinogenic and toxic materials which are either decades-long remnants from the communist era, or originated afterwards, in the last 27 years, and may present a continuous threat to the environment and to local inhabitants. Greenpeace Hungary draws attention to the legislative deficiencies, and demands the enforcement of the "polluter pays" principle, for a toxic-free Hungary. On the signboards are the names of each of the 15 locations/settlements/towns with the hot spots we identified. (Including the infamous Almásfüzitő red mud facility, and many locations which were not well-known to the public yet.) We will complete the list later, in spring 2017 with about 20-30 more sites.Locations:Budapest-Eastern Europe-HungaryDate:13 Dec, 2016Credit:© Bence Jardany / GreenpeaceMaximum size:5206px X 3471pxKeywords:Actions and protests-Banners-Barrels-Blue-Buildings-Day-Greenpeace activists-KWCI (GPI)-Outdoors-Signs-Toxic symbol-Toxic waste-Toxics (campaign title)-Urban areasShoot:Toxic Heritage: Contaminated Areas and Ticking Toxic Bombs in HungaryGreenpeace Hungary publishes "Toxic heritage: contaminated areas and ticking toxic bombs in Hungary", a report and online collection of some of the most polluted toxic hot spots in the country.
