Toxics Action TNK Oil Spills in Russia
Greenpeace activists protesting against oil spills in the Samutlor oil fields of Western Siberia. They erected an oil storage tank similar to the ones in which they have been collecting spilled oil in the area for the past 3 weeks and held banners in front of offices of the Russian oil company TNK and into which they poured oil taken from an oil spill near Nizhnevartovsk. Greenpeace is calling for an end to these oil spills and an action plan to be developed between Russian and Western oil companies to deal with the existing leaks.
