Together with the Greenpeace ship Beluga they protest against the chlorine production. Behind the Beluga lies Chlorientje, an eight meter long plaster baby, tied up an afloat. Chlorientje is the symbol of poisoning of humans by pollution through among others dioxin, one of the most toxic chlorines. Activists also chain themselves in the salt storage to stop the production process for some time. With this action Greenpeace protests against the production of chlorine and demand that the production is being stopped. The transport, production, usage and the procession of waste cause severe risks for the environment and there are good alternatives for all chlorine uses. Agent Orange, dioxin, DDT, PCB's and PCV all contain chlorine and many chlorine substances do not decompose readily or quickly in the environment. They mount up in organisms and are very toxic.
