The Greenpeace ship Beluga and activists block the discharge point of the chemical firm Tiofine in the Rotterdam harbour to protest against the toxic waste dumping. Tiofine is the only Dutch titanium white factory. They produce titanium white, which is used as whitener in among others paint, paper and plastics. The production of titanium white causes a lot of toxic waste. This chemical waste contains sulphuric furic acid. To make the outflow of acid waste visible, two Greenpeace divers hang hoses in the discharge point and with a pump they bring the toxic waste discharge above the water. After making the outflow visible, the divers try to enclose the outfall for several times, but because of the flow and intensified pressure caused by Tiofine the divers don't succeed to finish it off. However they have been able to prevent Tiofine from discharging its daily load of 25000 m3 of acid waste. Finally the police puts an end to the action. Two weeks later the Department of Public Works obliges Tiofine to stop the discharge of acid waste from August 1987.
