Die Expo.02 erhielt heute aussergewöhnlichen Besuch. Stellvertretend für Zehntausende von Menschen in Bhopal, die noch heute an den Folgen der schlimmsten Chemiekatastrophe aller Zeiten leiden, legten Champadevi Shukla und Pranay Sharma Zeugnis für die andauernde Katastrophe und das unermessliche Leiden in Bhopal ab. Beim Palais de l’Equilibre forderten sie Gerechtigkeit und klagten den Chemiemulti Dow Chemical an, seine Verantwortung nicht wahrzunehmen. Morgen will die Bhopal-Delegation mit Dow-Europe Präsident Luciano Respini zusammentreffen und zur Dow-Belegschaft sprechen.

Toxics Action with Bhopal Survivors during Expo 02 in Neuchatel Switzerland

Greenpeace activists and victims of the Bhopal disaster protest at the Expo 02 in Neuchâtel. The Bhopal survivors have announced that they will visit the Dow's European headquarters in Horgen tomorrow. They want to speak with Dow employees and Dow Europe President, Luciano Respini. The delegation will present their demands: the total clean up of the contaminated site in Bhopal, medical and financial compensation for the survivors of the disaster, guaranteed long-term medical care and clean drinking water for all affected people.
Dow-Carbide bought Union Carbide in 2001 and has refused to bear any corporate liability for the gas disaster.
