With the slogan "Forest not Freeways" they are demonstrating for a new transport planning that neither destroys nature nor fuels the climate crisis. A published study on behalf of Greenpeace shows that the fragmentation of the Dannenröder forest by the construction of the A49 freeway far beyond the cleared area, leads to a weakening of the forest. The separation of contiguous areas by a freeway leads to rising temperatures in the forest. It is thus more exposed to increasing extreme weather conditions such as heat and drought. Locations:Dannenroeder Forest-Europe-Germany-HesseDate:22 Nov, 2020Credit:© Bernd Lauter / GreenpeaceMaximum size:7952px X 5304pxKeywords:Actions and protests-Activists-Banners-Construction sites-Day-Forests (campaign title)-Greenpeace activists-KWCI (GPI)-Masks (protective)-Motorways-Oak trees-Outdoors-Planting-Streets-Transportation-Trees-Two peopleShoot:Tree Planting Action on Highway in HesseGreenpeace activists are planting an approximately eight meter high English oak tree at the end of the controversial A49 highway in Hesse, Germany.
