Tree Planting on A49 motorway near Dannenröder Forest in Germany - News Access
Schwalmstadt, Hesse, 22 November 2020:
Greenpeace activists plant an approximately seven metres high oak tree at the end of the controversial A49 motorway near Schwalmstadt in Hesse. With the slogan "Forest not Freeways" they are demonstrating against the further destruction of the Dannenröder Forest and for a new transport planning that neither destroys nature nor fuels the climate crisis.
The Dannenröder Forest ("Danni") is an intact mixed forest with some trees up to 200 years old. For the further expansion of the controversial A49 highway, tens of thousands of hectares will have to be cleared for an aisle leading through the forest.
