Underwater Banner Action in North and Baltic Sea Protected Areas
Greenpeace divers are holding a banner that reads "SCHÜTZT UNSERE MEERE" (PROTECT THE OCEANS). They are diving in the "Natura 2000“ protected area named "Adlergrund“ in the Baltic Sea. The lack of blue mussel (Mytilus edulis) colonies on top of the pictured rock beneath the divers suggests that it had contact with bottom touching gear. The MV Beluga-II is travelling to the protected areas of the North- and the Baltic Sea in July and August 2020. Its mission is to fight for "real protected areas" - domestically as well as internationally.
