Underwater Nuclear Research near Fukushima

On the occasion of the 5th anniversary of the nuclear accident in Fukushima, Greenpeace starts an underwater research tour monitoring the radiation impacts on underwater life. Greenpeace nuclear experts work with a ROV (remotely operated vehicle), an under water camera and special testing equipment like gamma spectroscope on board of a Japanese research vessel named Asakaze.

Greenpeace misst mit einem internationalen Team von Strahlenschutzexperten die radioaktive Belastung des Pazifiks vor Fukushimas Kueste. Greenpeace-Mitarbeiter aus Japan, Deutschland, Belgien und der Schweiz untersuchen mit Hilfe eines Unterwasserroboters (Remotely Operated Vehicle ROV) die Kontamination des Meeresbodens. Das ROV ist mit einem hochsensiblen Gammastrahlenspektrometer und einem Probeentnahmegerät ausgestattet.
