Aftermaths of war
Unloading of First Shipment - Greenpeace delivers supplies for MSF - 2006
Greenpeace crew arrive in Beirut to deliver emergency supplies brought by the Rainbow Warrior from Larnaca, Cyprus. The cargo consists of urgently needed humanitarian supplies delivered on behalf of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). MSF was planning to ship some 180 tonnes from Larnaca to Lebanon, but was experiencing difficulties in finding reliable transportation. Greenpeace offered the use of the Rainbow Warrior, which was already in the Mediterranean. Greenpeace is in the region to identify and document environmental destruction caused by the Israel-Lebanon War. Along with the terrible humanitarian impacts, long-term environmental damage is an inevitable consequence of war.
