Vattenfall Chaining Action against Brown Coal in Germany - News Access
Swedish and German activists near Spremberg have chained themselves to the train tracks, put up a warning yellow cross and hold a banner reading: "Stop Coal". They protest against brown coal mining on the transport rails to coal power plant Schwarze Pumpe in Brandenburg. The protest is against the energy production of the Swedish concern Vattenfall, who destroys the landscape, homes of people and the climate by mining in the Lusatia coal mining area in East-Germany.
Statements: Gerald Neubauer, Greenpeace Energy expert of Greenpeace Germany (in German);
Emma Petersson, Energy expert of Greenpeace Sweden (in English).
