Victim of the Coal Plant at Informal Settlement in South Africa

David Khumu lives next to two coal washeries in MSN informal settlement, eMalahleni (Witbank). He and his family live across the road from what appears to be a sludge dam from the coal washeries. There is no wall or fence around the dam to prevent the water
from overflowing, or children from playing in the area.
“The water that is used to wash the coal sometimes overflows into the community…The water in the dam is used to wash the coal which is harmful to us because it is the same water we as the community use for our daily needs...Maybe they can
move us to a proper place where we can live like humans.”
