Plastic Waste Exported from UK and Germany Found in Turkey
The UK and members of the EU have rules that are meant to prevent the export of plastic waste unless it is destined to be recycled, but there have been multiple reports of UK and German plastic waste being dumped in Turkey. In 2021 Greenpeace UK and Greenpeace Germany arranged a field investigation in the south of Turkey to look for evidence of plastic waste dumping, the environmental and social impacts and branded plastic from brands and retailers.
