Woman Living near Factory Farm in Lescout, France

Near the small village of Lescout there is a big hen factory farm, currently farming 185,000 hens. A line of trees and the small river the Sor separate the factory farm affecting the village of Lescout from some of its nearest houses. One of them belongs to Hélène Catala, 46 years old, a nurse living and working in the village. This old mill facing the Sor is just a few hundred meters far from the farm. The extractor fans located are on the side of the farm facing the river and Lescout. Hélène’s daily life, according to her, is affected by the smell coming from the facility. In addition, Hélène reported to Greenpeace France to have witnessed within her profession certain health issues among locals, that are making her question what is happening just outside her home. “I am concerned about my health, and the health of my family as well as the one of my patients.”
