At the time of a visit by Greenpeace France, locals like municipal councillor Thomas Drieux expressed their concerns on what according to their calculations is an extraordinary high rate of cancer in the area. In this picture, N. shows an angiogram of the tumour in her eye, seen as a black spot. Eye tumours are an extremely rare form of malignant cancer and N., who prefer to keep her name anonymous), is 62 years old and has lived in Lescout for almost thirty years, is the only survivor of two cases of eye cancer recorded in the village. N. was lucky that the tumour did not affect her brain. Even though the malignant disease is healed, N.’s vision remains affected.Locations:Europe-France-Lescout-OccitanieDate:13 Dec, 2018Credit:© Greenpeace / Wildlight / Selene MagnoliaMaximum size:4997px X 3748pxKeywords:Agriculture-Air pollution-Chickens-Factory Farming-Illness-KWCI (GPI)-Local population-Meat-Meat and Dairy (campaign title)-One person-Victims-WomenShoot:Hen Factory Farm in FranceThe egg laying hen factory farm of Lescout, Gallès, located a few hundred meters away from the village, is the only industrial facility for animal agriculture of the area and is currently farming 185,000 hens. First built in the 1980s, it steadily grew and was expanded in 2016 to the modern and highly industrial facility it is today.
