Shoot:

Boreal Forest Woodland Caribou - Slate Island, Ontario

Slate Islands, Lake Superior, Canada, provide a refuge for woodland caribou (Rangifer tarandus caribou).  Woodland caribou are a threatened species whose numbers are in decline. These caribou need thousands of square kilometres of uncut wilderness to survive. Slate Islands are protected as provincial park.
Unsustainable logging and political inaction are threatening the Canadian Boreal Forest, one of the largest tracts of ancient forest on the planet. One of the major threats to the forest is clearcutting intact forests for disposable paper products. Greenpeace is working to stop this practice, which destroys the habitat of threatened wildlife.
