Greenpeace volunteers urge water sport fans to make an active donation to the protection of the Oceans with a worldwide Group Action Day on International Oceans Day. The Greenpeace Chemnitz group invites watersports-persons to symbolically donate the distance they cover in a pedal boat on the Chemnitz Lake to the world's oceans. In turn parttakers receive an armband for their donation. The group also informs passersby with an information stand and a petition about ocean protection.
The event is a part of a larger campaign which demands that 30 percent of the oceans are under protection by 2030. 

Greenpeace Ehrenamtliche der Gruppe Chemnitz fordern Wassersportfans auf, mit einem weltweiten Gruppenaktionstag aktivem internationalen Tag des Meeres zum Schutz der Ozeane beizutragen. Die Greenpeace Gruppe laedt Wassersportler ein, symbolisch die mit einem Tretboot auf dem Chemnitzer Schlosssee zurueckgelegte Strecke fuer die Weltmeere zu spenden. Die Teilnehmer erhalten ein Armband fuer ihre Spende. Die Gruppe informiert die Passanten auch mit einem Informationsstand und einer Petition zum Thema Meeresschutz. Der Tag ist ein Teil der internationalen High Seas Kampagne, die sich fuer den Schutz 30 Prozent der Ozeane bis 2030 einsetzt.
