Protest for Liability at Hitachi European Headquarters in Germany - News Access
Duisburg, March 7, 2013: Greenpeace activists protest at the European headquarters of power plant constructor Hitachi-Power for a stricter liability law for nuclear accidents. The environmental activists lower a banner at the façade reading: “Don´t let Hitachi walk away from the Fukushima disaster“. Producers and suppliers of nuclear power plants like Hitachi, who built unit 4 of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant are excluded from liability of any kind compared to other industrial sectors. Thus they draw profit from nuclear energy while people have to bear the consequences of nuclear desasters. Greenpeace demands from Hitachi to take their joint responsibility for the Fukushima catastrophe towards the people and to start producing renewable plants.

Greenpeace–Aktivisten protestieren an der Europazentrale von Hitachi-Power für ein verschärftes Haftungsrecht bei Atomunfällen. Die Umweltschützer lassen an der Fassade des Anlagenbauers Hitachi ein Banner herunter mit der Botschaft „Don´t let Hitachi walk away from the Fukushima disaster“ (Entlasst Hitachi nicht aus der Verantwortung für die Fukushima-Katastrophe). Hersteller und Zulieferer von Atomkraftwerken wie der Anlagenbauer Hitachi, sind im Gegensatz zu anderen Industriesektoren, von jeglicher Haftung ausgenommen. Auf diese Weise macht Hitachi, der Block 4 der Atomkraftwerke von Fukushima Daiichi gebaut hat, Profite mit der Atomkraft, während die Menschen das gesundheitliche und ökonomische Risiko tragen müssen.
Greenpeace fordert von Hitachi, seine Verantwortung für die Geschädigten der Fukushimakatastrophe zu übernehmen und in den Bau von Anlagen mit erneuerbarer Energie zu investieren.
