Greenpeace Russia fire department, together with the local Rapid Response Volunteers group, examined peat bogs in the vicinity of Yekaterinburg in the Urals and discovered numerous zombie fires. They smolder despite frost and snow and can burn until spring. The number of peat fires is growing in Russia, including Siberia and the northern territories. Not only this is the evidence of rapid climate change, but also one of the causes for future climate change, if we do not stop these fires.

Специалисты пожарного отдела Гринпис России, вместе с группой местных волонтёров, обследовали торфяные болота в окрестностях Екатеринбурга на Урале и обнаружили многочисленные торфяные пожары.
Торф тлеет, несмотря на мороз и снег, и может гореть до весны. В России, в том числе в Сибири и на северных территориях, растёт количество торфяных пожаров.
Это не только свидетельство быстрого изменения климата, но и одна из причин будущего изменения климата, если мы не остановим эти пожары.
