Renewable Energy: Expedition to Caucasus (Kabardino-Balkarian Republic and Stavropol Krai)
Development of renewable energy sources is a real and affordable way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This year, Greenpeace Russia went on an expedition to study successful projects in the regions.
Before the trip, Greenpeace Russia experts compiled a list of regions that have started switching to renewable energy. Among them was the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic. According Russia Renewable Energy Development Association, the Republic is the leader of small hydropower among all regions of Russia.
The expedition also visited a wind power plant and a solar power plant in the Stavropol Krai (region)
