Mining in the Munduruku Indigenous Land in Brazil
Mining pushes through and devastates the Munduruku Indigenous Land, impacting people, rivers and the forest itself, with over 240 hectares deforested between January and April 2020, a 57% increase regarding the same period the previous year. Over 70% of all mining in the Amazon between January and April 2020 took place inside protected areas. Munduruku and Sai Cinza Indigenous Lands, home to the Munduruku people, in the state of Pará, hold over 60% of all deforestation by mining registered in all Indigenous Lands in 2020. Mining has also deforested 879 hectares inside Conservation Units between January and April 2020, an 80.62% increase regarding the same period of the previous year.

O garimpo avança de modo devastador na Terra Indígena Munduruku, impactando o povo, os rios e a floresta, que foi desmatada em mais de 240 hectares apenas entre os meses de janeiro e abril de 2020, um aumento de 57% em relação ao mesmo período do ano anterior.Mais de 70% de todo o garimpo realizado na Amazônia entre janeiro e abril de 2020 ocorreu dentro de áreas protegidas. As terras indígenas Munduruku e Sai Cinza, do povo Munduruku, no Pará, acumulam, juntas, pouco mais de 60% de todo o desmatamento para garimpo registrado dentro de terras indígenas em 2020. O garimpo também consumiu 879 hectares de floresta dentro das Unidades de Conservação entre janeiro e abril deste ano, o que representa um aumento de 80,62%, comparado aos mesmos meses de 2019.
