Wings of Emergency Project in the Amazon in Brazil
With the Wings of Emergency (Asas da Emergência, in Portuguese) project, Greenpeace Brazil is providing emergency help to indigenous people to reduce the impact of the coronavirus (Covid-19). The environmental organization is sending health professionals and equipment to areas where logistics are permanent challenges for the healthcare system.Aiming to halt Covid-19 spreading and impacting the indigenous peoples, the Wings of Emergency Project is coordinating the production of 850 cloth masks daily in the Greenpeace office in Manaus, in the Amazonas state. The project is also responsible for storing, decontaminating and transporting medical (oxygen concentrators, surgical masks and gloves and cloth masks) and hygiene (soap and hand sanitizer) supplies to places where logistics and the healthcare system are uncertain.
