Greenpeace Nordic activists light forest fire onto Denmark's main pig port to highlight the destructive traces from soy import. The Danish activists set the main port for soy animal feed and pork export at Aarhus Harbour on fire with a creative light installation projected on the front of a huge fodder factory. While the Amazon and South American forests are burning and are being destroyed at a record high level, Denmark’s enormous industrial meat production of more than 30 million pigs per year demands the highest import of soy per capita in the EU. Soy is a major driver of deforestation, much of which is being shipped in to Denmark via this central harbour. Greenpeace is calling on the Danish government to significantly reduce its production of pigs and cows and to phase-out soy import for fodder.
