Group Action Day for Hiroshima Anniversary in Leipzig
Greenpeace volunteers group who, in memory of the atomic bombing of the Japanese city of Hiroshima on August 6, 1945, show the effects of a potential atomic bombing over Leipzig on a large city map on Petersstraße in Leipzig's city center.
With their vigil, the volunteers also call on the German government for nuclear disarmament.
According to experts, up to 20 U.S. nuclear bombs are stored at the air base in Büchel, Rhineland-Palatinate.
These are to be flown to their area of deployment by German pilots in the event of war. Their respective explosive power is at least thirteen times that of the Hiroshima bomb.
